If I set the Beam as the "Admin" Theme, then when I go into news, welcome page Etc, many of the boxes (such as date from / to entry, who can see the item, Description Field Etc...
Found the Installation problem. The 2 sites had a "featurebox" plugin in the plugins directory, and when this was removed the compat pref changed to 1 and the beam widget then installed OK.
